# Micky's Game Room — starter setup

1. Extract the ZIP completely, into its own folder. Keep that folder; your local saves go inside it.
2. Install Python 3 from https://www.python.org/downloads/ if you do not have it.
3. Run **Install MAME on Mac.command** or **Install MAME on Windows.cmd** once. This uses your existing Homebrew or Windows Package Manager. If unavailable, install MAME from https://www.mamedev.org/release.html . Linux users can install MAME through their distro or official source.
4. Run **Start on Mac.command**, **Start on Windows.cmd**, or `python3 launch.py` (`py -3 launch.py` on Windows).
5. Your browser opens a local game shelf. Cricket 07 opens the hosted WebGPU edition; Mario runs through EmulatorJS. The Tekken arcade buttons launch MAME on your computer. Keep the terminal open while using the shelf.

## What is included

The **starter pack** includes the two verified MAME 0.289 arcade ZIP sets, Super Mario Bros. (NES), the portable launcher, keyboard mappings, source, catalog and AI prompts. It does not bundle Python, MAME or other emulator applications. Emulator downloads are additional. The **light setup** includes the same launcher and prompts without commercial game files. Add compatible files to `games/mame/` (`tekken3je1.zip`, `tektagtub.zip`) and `site/roms/mario.nes` respectively.

Cricket 07 is the already hosted edition at https://games.mickykharbanda.com/cricket07/ . It downloads about 1.17 GB into browser storage on first launch. You need desktop WebGPU. Solo play is supported; this kit does not add internet multiplayer.

The large PSP, PS1, Wii, Wii U, PS3 and PC libraries are not bundled. Use the included level 2/3 prompts, official emulator downloads and linked portals to set up your own collection. Game files/firmware are separate from the open-source launcher. Use files you have permission to use. This is an independent fan project.

## Tekken controls

- Coin: **5** or **Right Shift**. Start: **Enter**.
- Move: **arrow keys**. Punches: **A / S**. Kicks: **Z / X**. Tag: **D** in Tekken Tag.
- **Tab** opens MAME's input settings. **Escape** exits to your shelf.
- These are arcade editions. Tekken Tag Tournament is the original arcade game, not Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

## Saves and troubleshooting

MAME's NVRAM, supported save states and screenshots stay under `saves/` in this kit. Individual games differ in save-state support. Browser Mario saves stay in that browser; use the emulator toolbar to export them. Cricket saves have separate backup/restore controls on its launcher. Copy your save folders before updating.

If MAME cannot be found, copy `settings.example.json` to `settings.json` and point `mame` at your actual executable, or set the MAME_PATH environment variable. Run `python3 launch.py --check` to verify both sets without starting the games. A different MAME version may need different files; check the verification output rather than renaming ROMs at random. PS1 needs compatible BIOS; PSP does not use a PS1 BIOS; PS3 needs RPCS3's documented firmware setup. Don't mix platforms just because titles have the same name.

For help, copy an included AI prompt into Codex, Claude Code or another assistant with local-file and terminal access. A chat-only assistant can explain steps but cannot install applications on your computer. Always tell it your OS, chip, chosen games and where you extracted this kit.
